A portrait made of absence, Questionnaire for My Grandfather uses the structure of a questionnaire to investigate the elusive, troubling figure of the author’s grandfather—a man who, though she never met him, shaped the trajectory of her life. Each question is surrounded by the white space of silence: the grandfather is long gone. The slow accumulation of that space quietly becomes a story haunted by echoes of generational trauma.
