Kim Adrian is the author of three books of creative nonfiction. Dear Knausgaard and Sock (part of Bloomsbury’s Object Lessons series) are both works of lyric criticism; her memoir, The Twenty-Seventh Letter of the Alphabet, was a Next Generation Indie Book Awards Finalist. Her essays and stories have been published in Agni, Tin House, O Magazine, Gettysburg Review, The New England Review, Literary Hub, and many other places; several have been listed as Notable or Distinguished in The Best American Essays, The Best American Short Stories, and The Pushcart Prize.
Kim edited The Shell Game: Writers Play with Borrowed Forms, an anthology of lyric essays, and wrote the libretto for the chamber opera The Strange Child, based on a fairy tale by E.T.A. Hoffmann. She has taught creative writing at Brown University and is currently at work on a novel about Hoffmann, set in Berlin in 1822. This work-in-progress has received support from a fellowship at the Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus in Schwandorf, Germany; a residency at Villa Concordia in Bamberg, Germany; and a 2025 Individual Artist Grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
